SLOW

Nestled discreetly within the quiet streets of Yoyogi-Uehara stands a two-storey detached house.
Within this compact building of approximately 60m², “slow” was born.
The project’s starting point was interpreting the building itself.
While respecting the layout, structure, and pillar positions of the building originally constructed as a residence to the greatest extent possible, the project team carefully deliberated and planned.
The interior design, centred around the keyword “Atelier”, achieves a balance between preserving the aged character of the structure and creating a clean, white-box-like finish.
Existing walls were painted white, while exposed structural elements revealed during demolition were left as-is, highlighting the building’s weathered expression.
This design approach prioritised meticulous on-site direction and improvisation to maximise the building’s inherent atmosphere. Simultaneously, the owner’s selected furniture and art pieces introduced a pleasing sense of incongruity, creating a unique aesthetic harmony.
Within this space where old and new intersect, furniture, art, and music reflecting the owner’s aesthetic sensibility harmonise, fostering a truly unique atmosphere.
True to its name, ‘slow’ is a place where time flows gently, allowing guests to savour wine and cuisine.
We hope that the time spent here becomes a special memory for all who visit.

代々木上原の一角、静かな街並みにひっそりと佇む2階建ての一軒家。
この約60㎡のコンパクトな建物を活かし、「slow」は生まれた。
プロジェクトの出発点は、建物そのものを読み解くこと。
元々住居として建てられた建物の間取りや構造、柱の位置を最大限尊重しつつ、プロジェクトメンバーにて慎重に議論しながら計画を行った。
内装は「Atelier」というキーワードを軸に、経年の味わいを残した躯体と、ホワイトボックスを思わせる整然とした仕上げを両立させたデザインを採用。
既存の壁面には白塗装を施し、解体で露わになった構造はそのまま残すことで、時間を経た建物の表情を活かす。
このデザインアプローチは、建物の持つ空気感を最大限引き出すため、現場での細やかな指示と即興性を重視した。同時に、オーナーがセレクトした家具やアート等が空間にいい意味での違和感を与え、独自の美的調和を生み出した。
新旧が交錯する空間に、オーナーの美意識を映した家具やアート、音楽が調和し、唯一無二の雰囲気を醸し出す。
「slow」はその名の通り、時がゆっくりと流れる中で、ワインと料理を堪能できる場所。
訪れる人々にとって、ここで過ごすひとときが特別な記憶になる事を願う。
