E-leg

E leg is a table leg component inspired by the uninhibited creativity of children, shaped in the form of a stylized elephant.
Developed in collaboration with TANK, it is constructed primarily from 30×40mm timber offcuts and plywood, materials commonly used—and often discarded—in architectural and fabrication contexts.
By employing minimal processing, these surplus materials are reconfigured into a simplified elephant form.
The structure emphasizes material efficiency, while balancing visual playfulness with structural stability.
Beyond its decorative and functional roles, E leg serves as a reflection on the intrinsic values of making—waste-conscious design, hands-on construction, and the pursuit of form through freedom.

E leg は、子供のように自由な発想から着想を得た、象のかたちを模したテーブル用の脚部パーツである。
TANKとの協働により制作され、30×40mm の垂木廃材およびベニヤ材を主素材として構成されている。
これらの材料は、建築・制作現場において汎用的に使用される一方で、端材として大量に発生する傾向がある。
本作では、そうした廃材を最小限の加工で再構成し、ディフォルメされた象の形状として造形した。
シンプルな構成により、材料ロスを抑制しながら、視覚的なユーモアと構造的な安定性を両立させている。
E leg は、装飾性や機能性に加え、廃材の活用・自作性・造形の自由性といった、モノづくりにおける本質的な価値を再考する試みである。
